VPN on Chromecast: the two cases

Chromecast comes in two very different cases. The model with Google TV is, inside, an Android device — it takes apps, and ours for Android TV is being built. The older models, without Google TV, install nothing: they depend on the device sending the video. In both cases, the way that works today is the router.

Through the router, step by step

Check whether your router supports WireGuard — the router guide has the list of brands.
Download the configuration file in your account, under Devices → Use on a router.
Import the file in the router's VPN settings.
Turn the connection on and confirm the router shows the tunnel as active.
Everything connected to that router now exits through Brazil — including the device on this page.

What this does not solve

We promise access to no service. What FortiSafe delivers is a Brazilian IP and an encrypted connection; what each platform decides to do with that changes without notice, and is not in our hands.
Casting from your phone does not carry the VPN along. If the Chromecast is outside the VPN, the video goes out through it — even with your phone connected. That is why the router solves it and the phone app, on its own, does not.

The app exists today for iPhone and Windows; Android, Mac and TV are being built.

For anything that takes no app, the way in is the router — and the configuration file is in your account.
