The three reasons, and what fixes each one

What a VPN doesn't fix
- SMS and SIM: the confirmation code goes to your Brazilian number, wherever you are.
- A new or unregistered phone: the Pix rule looks at the device, not the country the connection comes from.
- If you've moved abroad: for that case, Caixa suggests a power of attorney at the consulate so someone can operate the account in Brazil.
Before you travel
- Register with your bank the phone you'll use outside Brazil.
- Turn on roaming on your Brazilian SIM, or confirm with the bank another way to receive the confirmation code.
- Update the app before you leave: Inter asks customers not to update or reinstall the app while travelling.
- If you'll use your card abroad, tell your bank: Bradesco asks for your destination and travel dates.
- Check whether your bank restricts access from your destination: Inter lists six countries where access is blocked.
